On November 18th, from 4-6 in 126 Voorhies, several of the authors will read from and discuss their work. Interested members of the campus community and the public are invited to attend. This is the first of a series of three campus readings scheduled for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Prized Writing is supported in part by the Office of the Vice Provost of Student Affairs as well as by a generous gift from Davis author John Lescroart. As always, Prized Writing features non-fiction written by UC Davis undergraduates for courses offered all across the campus, in such disciplines as Animal Science, Biochemistry, Community and Regional Development, Physiology, Plant Science, and, of course, the Humanities. The pieces range from such traditional academic forms as literary analysis and scientific review to those catering to a broader audience, such as science journalism, the reflective narrative, and the collage. These works were chosen by a panel of faculty judges as the best of the 335 entries received.
Prized Writing is available at the UC Davis Bookstore and will be on sale at these events.
