UC Davis’ University Writing Program is proud to announce the results of the 23nd Annual Prized Writing Contest. Out of 335 entries, 22 talented undergraduate students were selected for publication and recognition.
To celebrate the achievements of
these authors and to showcase their knowledge, the University Writing Program
will present an awards reception and two author readings during the academic
On Wednesday, October 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m., an awards reception will be held in the Buehler Alumni Center at UC Davis to honor the 22 winners and 10 honorable mention recipients of the 2010-2011 Prized Writing contest. A catered reception will be provided for invited guests from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. The awards program will be held from 6:00-7:30. Mentor faculty at UCD will introduce student authors. The students’ families, friends, and instructors will be on hand to congratulate them, along with Vice Provost Pat Turner and Jessie Ann Owens, the Dean of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies and New York Times best selling author John Lescroart. Members of the press are welcome to attend and should RSVP Kenya Mitchell.
On November 17th , February 16th and April 19th , Davis community members will have the opportunity to hear select students read their pieces and discuss their writing process. These student readings will be held in 126 Voorhies on the UC Davis campus from 4:10-6:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.
The newly published 2010-2011 Prized Writing anthology of student authors will be available for purchase at these events and the UC Davis bookstore.
